Chicken parmesan, also known as chicken parmigiana, is a classic Italian favorite. This dish originated from Italian immigrants in the US in the ’50s and is thought to have originated from Eggplant Parmesan, a traditional Italian dish. Chicken Parmigiana (Pollo alla parmigiana in Italian) is also known in Australia as a Parm, Parma, or Parmi
-
It’ll look like you spent hours in the kitchen, with a fraction of the time.
-
While it is traditionally deep-fried or often pan-fried, this baked chicken parmesan is baked with an incredible outcome. (Restaurant Style)
-
The chicken comes out tender and juicy, and tastes like it came from a Restaurant, when actually, it's homemade. I won't tell, if you won't!
Directions
-
In a bowl add bread crumbs and Parmesan Cheese (mix well)
-
In another bowl add mayonnaise
-
Cover both sides of chicken in mayonnaise, salt and pepper both sides evenly.
-
Dip each piece of chicken in bread mixture
-
Lay out on a cookie sheet (I did not spray mine but you can)
-
Repeat with all four chicken thighs.
-
Place cookie sheet into oven
-
Bake at 350 for 45 min. (turning chicken over half way)
-
Broil 4 to 5 min on each side (until browned)
-
When they come out of the oven, top with Marinara Sauce and more Parmesan Cheese
-
Then seriously devour!
The Breading
-
The breading for this Italian Parmesan Chicken is outstanding. I have used it in many of my recipes that need a breaded coating.
-
It's not only flavorful, but it's quick and easy to put together and holds well.
Leftovers
-
Leftover chicken parmesan is delicious as a chicken parmesan sandwich or you can dice it, or cut into strips for an additional take on salad. (Delish!~)
-
Keep leftover chicken parmesan in a covered container for up to 3 days and reheat portions in the microwave, Place the chicken parmesan on a microwave-safe plate. Cover the plate with a microwave-safe lid to avoid splatters. 2. Reheat the chicken parmesan at medium power for 1 minute or until heated through.
-
To freeze prepared chicken parmesan, cool completely. Once cool, flash freeze on a baking sheet, seal in freezer-safe food storage containers or quart-sized freezer bags. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating. The chicken will not be as crispy once frozen, but it is still delicious.
