Oven Baked (overnight)
 Bacon and Cheese Croissant Casserole

You can make this Bacon and Cheese Croissant Casserole the night before and then bake it in the morning.
Here's how you can do it:

Prepare the Casserole:

  • Follow the recipe instructions up to the point where you would normally bake the casserole.

Cover and Refrigerate:

  • Once you've assembled the casserole in the baking dish, cover it tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil.

Refrigerate Overnight:

  • Place the covered casserole in the refrigerator overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and makes the morning preparation quick and easy.

Bake in the Morning:

  • When you're ready to bake the casserole in the morning, preheat the oven and remove the dish from the refrigerator.

Bring to Room Temperature:

  • Let the casserole come to room temperature for about 15-20 minutes. This helps it bake more evenly.

Bake as Directed:

  • Follow the original baking instructions in the recipe. You may need to add a few extra minutes to the baking time to ensure the center is fully cooked.

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Prepare Crescent Rolls:

  • Cut one can of crescent rolls into 1-inch pieces. Layer the bottom of the greased baking dish with these round pieces.

Unroll the Remaining Crescent Rolls:

  • Unroll the second can of crescent rolls. Instead of cutting them into quarters, make strips from the unrolled dough.

Layer the Casserole:

  • Place the round pieces of crescent rolls as the first layer in the baking dish. Add a layer of crumbled bacon over the crescent rolls.

Prepare Egg Mixture:

  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Add Egg Mixture:

  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers in the baking dish.

Add Cheese:

  • Sprinkle a layer of shredded cheddar cheese over the bacon and egg mixture.

Layer with Strips:

  • Now, layer the casserole with the strips of unrolled crescent rolls, creating a lattice pattern.

More Cheese and Bacon:

Add another layer of shredded cheese over the lattice of crescent strips. Top it off with additional crumbled bacon.

Bake Covered (First Half of Cooking):

  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for the first 20-25 minutes.

Remove Foil (Second Half of Cooking):

  • Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes.

Garnish (Optional):

  • If desired, garnish the casserole with chopped green onions for added flavor and color.

Serve:

  • Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm, and enjoy your Bacon and Cheese Croissant Casserole!
