How To Make Instant Pot Beef Stew For Beginners, This recipe is divine, the beef is tender, the potatoes are perfect and the gravy is delicious! Perfect for dinner or camping trips or while you are out in a hotel with your family. Make sure you add butter to your finished bowl! Okay, it's not necessary, I just love butter. The gravy is incredible for dipping. (See the reason for the butter?) I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do. It's a GREAT wintertime meal too, but we also like it in the fall.
Perfect stew weather.

-
1 1/2 pound beef stew meat

1/4 Cup Flour
-
2 TBS Vegetable Oil
-
4 Cups Beef Broth or Bone Broth,
-
1 Can Cream Of Celery
-
5 Large Potatoes (chunked)
-
6 Medium Carrots cut 1 1/2 inch thick
-
1 Heaping Cup Celery with leaves.
-
1 Large Onion Quartered twice
-
1 Can Cream Of Mushroom
-
1/2 TBS Salt
-
3 TBSP Corn starch
-
3 TBSP Water
Tip:
I used Kitchen Bouquet Browning and Seasoning Sauce
Add as much or little as you like until you get the desired color
Directions
-
In a bowl add your liquid smoke, garlic salt, pepper and flour. (mix well)
-
Turn your sauté on to your instant pot and let it get hot. (add oil) brown your meat. Don't worry about the bottom we will de-glaze later.
-
Once browned add your broth to your pot and start de-glazing your pan. (A metal spatula works better than a wooden spoon to do this)
-
Next, add cream of celery potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, cream of mushroom, garlic and salt, You might want to add it to a separate bowl (the gravy) and whisk until smooth. (add 1/2 cup water.)
-
Mix well and place your lid on your instant pot, make sure it is on sealing and not venting,
-
press your meat/stew button. It will set for 35 min.
-
When done, do a natural release,
-
when your pressure button goes down, open your lid and add corn starch mixture while piping hot (mix well) and Enjoy~
-
Another Tip:
I always use a couple of spoons of butter in my stew, I love it!~ Since I always use butter on my potatoes (baked) and my carrots. It's an amazing addition to any stew.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS WITH INSTANT POT BEEF STEW:
-
Sear the meat first as directed in the recipe! Taking the quick step to sear the meat instead of just tossing everything in, produces a much more flavorful stew.
-
Natural release for the best results. It's best to always natural release anyway when you have really hot boiling liquids like this. Boiling hot stew broth is not fun on your ceiling.
-
Don't let this cool before adding the cornstarch/water. You want to add the cornstarch and cold water mixture while the stew is still nice and piping hot for the best thickening.
