Do a natural release (NR) to release pressure from your cooker.
-
When the float valve has dropped, open your Instant Pot, then fluff, serve and enjoy your perfect rice.
-
Remove inner pot and set on a hot pad. (this will keep your rice from burning/sticking to the bottom)
-
For Jasmine and white rice you can also use the "rice" setting. Timer will set for 10 min.
Why Do You Need To Rinse Rice?
Rinsing the rice removes any debris, and most importantly, it removes the surface starch that otherwise causes the rice to clump together or get gummy as it cooks

What Rice is used for fried rice?
Medium to long grain rice works the best. I almost always use Jasmine rice which produces fluffy, sturdy grains of rice that don't clump or fall apart when fried. Short grain rice tends to be softer and sticks together.

1 c. white long grain rice
1 tbsp. butter
Kosher salt
DIRECTIONS
-
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring water to a boil. Add rice, butter, and a large pinch of salt.

-
Remove from heat and let sit, covered, 15 minutes, then fluff with a fork and serve.
