The Best Liver & Onions

How do you make the best liver and onions? Liver and onions are amazing if made right. What side dishes are good with liver and onions? Mashed potatoes with garlic and butter, and a vegetable. How can you go wrong? A comfort food that stands on it's own, with rich gravy. Yum!~

When I was a kid, let's just say, liver I were not friends by any means, my mom back then thought it was "healthy" to eat it rare. (no onions, no gravy,) Well I used to go to Church with my best friend and after, her mom would make an amazing lunch/brunch, but one Sunday she was making liver and onions and I and I thought "oh no how am I goign to get out of this, but my bbf said "oh you got to try my moms!" I honestly loved it and watched closely how she made it. It's now one of my favorite meals!

 Start with your flour, add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder. Mix well.

Coat each piece of liver in flour mixture, and let rest on a plate for at least 5 min. You want the liver absorb the flour.

Slice your onions in rings and add oil to another pan, salt and pepper and saute on medium heat, till almost translucent.  Set aside when done.

Absolute Best Liver and Onions

Fry both sides on medium high heat until browned, then turn your heat down to finish cooking. insert a knife to make sure no blood is present. When liver is done cut each piece in half. (it's much easier to cut cooked)

Layer (in another bowl) liver and onion. Liver, Onions, Liver Onions etc. (as pictured)

In the pan you fried your liver, add oil, and left over flour (mix well and make a paste) add beef broth and stir until desired thickness. Salt and pepper to taste. Pour over liver and onions and stir them to coat liver and onions.

You Will Need

1 Package liver

6 TBSP oil (more if needed for gravy) Divided

I cup flour

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder 

2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1/2 box Beef Broth

Directions

3. Slice your onions in rings and add 2 TBSP oil to another pan, Add 1 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper and sauté on medium heat, till almost translucent.  Set aside when done.

4. Add 2 TBSP oil to frying pan, Fry both sides of liver on medium high heat until browned, then turn your heat down to finish cooking. insert a knife to make sure no blood is present. When liver is done cut each piece in half. (it's much easier to cut cooked)

5. Layer (in another bowl) liver and onion. Liver, Onions, Liver Onions etc. (as pictured)
